Prior to joining CommonWealth Commercial, Carter headed deal sourcing and acquisition efforts at Burroughs & Chapin Co., a privately held Real Estate Investment Trust based in South Carolina. During his tenure there, B&C completed the REIT conversion and made their first successful retail acquisitions outside of the Myrtle Beach area. Carter also worked on strategic planning and operations for several flagship assets and operating business units.
Before beginning his real estate career, he worked for national retailers in various capacities including merchandising, supply chain/inventory management, and private label sourcing.
Carter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a focus in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Real Estate Finance and Development from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
While in South Carolina, Carter served on the board of directors of the Myrtle Beach Downtown Redevelopment Corporation and was a guest lecturer at Coastal Carolina University.
